Flying into Petersburg is one of the Earth's greatest trips. On a clear day you'll float over Canada's Coastal Range indented by countless deep fjords and topped off by snow capped peaks too numerous to count.
It generally costs about $500-600 for a flight from San Francisco.
Alaska Airlines is currently the only major airlines that flies into Petersburg. Although, if you're adventurous, you can check out LAB flights from Juneau for a "true Alaskan" prop plane experience.

 
You'll transfer planes in the capital city of Juneau. If there's enough time you may even be able to take the 15 min taxi out to Mendenhall glacier to marvel at the waterfall pouring out of the face of the glacier.
The quiet village of Petersburg lies just northeast of the mouth of the great river Stikine. John Muir described it as "a Yosemite 100 miles long." The Stikine deposits its great load of sediment from eroding Canada's Coastal range and effectively prevents any monstrous cruise ships from approaching Petersburg.
Trip Details:
  • One of our guides will greet you at the Petersburg airport. Don't worry about not finding them...there's only one room. From there you'll hop in a van and drive the 2 miles into town. Don't forget to look out the window for Black Bear, Sitka Deer and a miriad of wild flowers.

  • You'll be staying at the Scandia Inn right in downtown Petersburg with views of the harbor. It's a small place with everything close by. Check out the Petersburg website (click here) for more info.

  • We'll pick you up the next morning and away we go either via motor boat or float plane to our first camp and the beginning of an incredible Alaskan Adventure.
